Our Approach to Evaluation
Strategy 2024 – 27
The DAaRT evaluation strategy for 2024–27 is designed to demonstrate meaningful impact and inform continuous improvement. It builds on former research that Life Skills Education has used to learn from practice and refine its measurement framework. This includes insights from previous evaluations, survey feedback, and delivery experience in schools.
Our Development and Measurment Process
What do we measure?
Impact is measured across six outcomes: communication, relationships, well-being, self-efficacy, resilience, and knowledge and understanding. These are tracked through behavioural indicators that describe the kinds of change pupils are expected to demonstrate over time.
The evaluation approach combines pupil surveys with qualitative insight from teachers and parents. Sample schools are selected for deeper study, which may include interviews, observation, or additional feedback tools. Delivery models are also compared to identify which approaches lead to the strongest and most sustainable change.
Evaluation tools are developed in partnership with Community Impact CIC and co-designed with DAaRT Officers. New strands of evaluation consider long-term outcomes and the effect of early exposure through the STaRS programme.
The aim is to ensure Life Skills Education continues to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to make safer, more informed choices.
