Training to Deliver Life Skills Education Programmes

We offer a range of training sessions to help you deliver Life Skills Education courses.  

So that you can teach Life Skills Primary you will need to have some knowledge of how young people learn together with an understanding of a variety of teaching methods – all of this can be included in the training if needed.

Life Skills Primary

Key Stage 2

A full or half day training session for teachers who want to deliver to their year 5 or 6 students.
Deliver Life Skills Education courses to your young people.

Our training equips you with the knowledge needed to confidently deliver Life Skills Education courses. We provide a comprehensive understanding of the programme requirements, along with up-to-date information on drugs and alcohol. After completing your training, you can always seek support from our Training Manager on any aspect of the programme or its delivery.

The duration of the training varies based on your individual needs. For those with teaching or training experience, it typically ranges from 3 to 7 hours. Additionally, we can travel to your location to conduct the training if necessary. For teaching staff planning to teach the Life Skills Primary programme, you have the opportunity to join the first day of our annual DAaRT Officer training course.

Training for Teachers – Deliver Life Skills Education

Full or Half Day

Half day – £27.50 / Full day – £55

We offer a half-day ‘conversion training’ course for teachers who have previously taught DAaRT. For those who haven’t, we provide a full-day training schedule.

Regardless of the option you choose, we aim to fully equip teachers and schools for delivering our Primary programme.

  • Possess and source adequate knowledge of drug facts and information to meet the needs of the curriculum.

Training to Deliver Life Skills Education Courses for Other Organisations

We offer training courses to support organizations with officers and staff already involved in enforcement, training, teaching, coaching, and mentoring young people in schools and the community. These courses can be tailored to deliver any of our primary or secondary programmes.

Each course accommodates a maximum of 15 students and is scheduled for dates agreed upon in advance. The length of the course ranges from 5 to 10 days, depending on the number, experience, and qualifications of those attending. This duration will be negotiated with the commissioning organization.

Frequently Asked Question’s

Do I need to have your training to deliver Life Skills Education courses?

No, we don’t make it mandatory for anyone to undertake one of our training courses to deliver our programmes. However, we strive to make them as accessible as possible. This ensures that every child receives the same, quality-assured material in a consistent manner. Moreover, independent evaluations show that our programmes are effective when delivered according to our prescribed methods.

Where are your training days located?

We don’t have set locations for our training days; however, they are more commonly held in or around Nottingham City. Additionally, we are happy to visit individual schools and provide on-site training. In these cases, we usually request that at least two staff members participate in the training.

Do you provide lunch?

Yes.  We provide all refreshments and food on our full day courses.  Half day courses include all refreshments.

Do you provide training to Military staff?

We have trained MoD staff both in the UK and abroad. Therefore, if you are a member of the armed forces and would like to be trained to deliver a DAaRT programme, please get in touch with our head office at 0300 111 3273 to discuss your requirements.

Do you train Police or Fire Service Personnel?

Yes, we work closely with both organizations to support their efforts within schools. Additionally, we can train officers to deliver Life Skills Education programmes, enabling them to facilitate sessions alongside teachers. I volunteer in a community group, can I get trained?

Our facilitator led community products are currently being updated,  however there is no training required to facilitate the Life Skills Game, which comes with full lesson guides and fact sheets.
