The unique aspect of Life Skills Education is that our programmes are mainly delivered by staff who are experienced in dealing with the effects of drug and alcohol abuse in the community. We are now looking for people who bring experience from a wide group of professions to join our team.
Life Skills Education Charity is seeking to recruit additional staff to take on the role of ‘DARE Officer’ who reside in the following areas:
The successful candidates will be able to show that they are enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who are able to work unsupervised, have an ability to engage young people and an enthusiasm for the work of prevention through education that draws on prior experience of dealing with Drug and Alcohol abuse among young people in the community, with some evidence of teaching, training, or coaching skills.
Your main role will be to deliver the 10 week primary curriculum to children in years 5 and 6 (9-11yrs old) at primary school, although there may be opportunities for work in secondary schools and other educational establishments. You will be based at home and required to work at various locations as directed. There will be no guaranteed hours of work. Work will be offered as and when available and the number of hours will differ from term to term.
The role requires a full UK driving licence and own vehicle and there will be remuneration for mileage incurred. Full training, corporate uniform, and equipment will be provided.

Interview and testing of shortlisted applicants week commencing 22nd February 2021. This may be by use of technology (Microsoft Teams) to comply with Government guidelines in place at the time).
In total the training to become a DARE Officer takes 8 days, there is a mix of home study, classroom and remote learning.
You will be required to be available for this course, from Monday 15th March 2021 to Friday 19th March 2021, and also on Friday 26th March 2021. There will be home study before and after the initial 5 days
D.A.R.E. Officer training/certification classroom based sessions held in North Nottinghamshire, Mansfield area – venue to be confirmed.
Travel expenses will be met. Start date for delivery in schools will be the term after completion of DARE Officer Training (April 2021, subject to schools being back to normal).
