The unique aspect of Life Skills Education is that our programmes are mainly delivered by staff who are experienced in dealing with the effects of drug and alcohol abuse in the community. We are now looking for people who bring experience from a wide group of professions to join our team.
Life Skills Education Charity is seeking to recruit additional staff to take on the role of ‘DARE Officer’ who reside in the following areas:
The successful candidates will be able to show that they are enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals who are able to work unsupervised, have an ability to engage young people and an enthusiasm for the work of prevention through education that draws on prior experience of dealing with Drug and Alcohol abuse among young people in the community, with some evidence of teaching, training, or coaching skills.
Your main role will be to deliver the 10 week primary curriculum to children in years 5 and 6 (9-11yrs old) at primary school, although there may be opportunities for work in secondary schools and other educational establishments. You will be based at home and required to work at various locations as directed. There will be no guaranteed hours of work. Work will be offered as and when available and the number of hours will differ from term to term.
The role requires a full UK driving licence and own vehicle and there will be remuneration for mileage incurred. Full training, corporate uniform, and equipment will be provided.

The D.A.R.E Primary Programme consists of 10 one hour sessions plus a graduation ceremony. D.A.R.E. Officers are also expected to undertake a pre-programme visit to the school for an initial assessment of needs and the delivery of a parent presentation when requested.
Remuneration for the eleven paid sessions is £26.18 ( proposed subject to July pay review) per session which includes paid holiday.

Mileage is paid at a rate of 40 pence per mile excluding the first 20 miles travelled per day.
